Progesterone
I have had a lot of questions from folks about the Progesterone I am taking. My Dr. prescribed 100mg for the first 11 weeks of my pregnancy. It is a steroid hormone that supports gestation and embryogenesis. Progesterone converts the endometrium to its secretory stage to prepare the uterus for implantation. During implantation and gestation, progesterone appears to decrease the maternal immune response to allow for the acceptance of the pregnancy. Progesterone decreases contractility of the uterine smooth muscle. In addition progesterone inhibits lactation during pregnancy. And there you have it Ladies and Gentlemen, learn something new everyday! :)
